Perhaps I’m the only one either confused by this or pondering the same. With pistols like the G43 and the P365 designed for concealed carry and purpose built to be small, and reliable secondary weapons. What would be the disadvantage of using them as combat pistols?
If they’re lighter weight, more compact and their use case is fairly rare, or at least not as active as the primary weapon. What would be the down side?
I’ve heard the statement that more robust weapons like the Glock 34 and the P09 are more suited for this role. But they’re just pistols too. They’re bigger, so that gives you more purchase and grip. Maybe I just fall into the Goldilocks zone of pistol grips where the Glock 19 length is perfect for me, I don’t need additional grip real estate.
I am asking these questions without skin in the game too. I have a Glock 43X MOS in the arsenal, but I don’t carry it. My wife does. So, on the daily I don’t have any insight. I think I’ve shot it twice? I think this would be an excellent experiment.
Concept:
Build out a Glock 43 long slide as a combat pistol. Run it like a combat pistol through drills, and field tests. Report back.
That simple. Same with the P365 long slide.
My guess: It’ll be lighter, shoot about the same, and be easier to have on a belt, than a full size or even compact handgun.
Let me know if you run this experiment! I’d love to hear your thoughts!
God Bless You and Keep You!
